Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Nursing House Supervisor to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY: This position provides supervisory coverage for all department at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Has general knowledge of hospital and nursing procedures and policies.
Functions as clinical relationship between departments.
Communicates directly with department nursing managers in their absence as well as with the administrator on call.
Works with physicians and nursing staff with admission assignments, solving nursing issues and addresses patient or family concerns.
Comprehends utilization rules and regulations.
Understands and promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Nursing House Supervisor 1.
Assess requirements for patient care on each department.
Evaluates needs during visits to all areas of the hospital.
Communicates with unit leadership during rounding to assess the acuity of care required for patients.
Implement safe staffing plans for shifts based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff.

Assist physicians, access center nurse and staff in admission criteria for assigning admission status to patients.
3.
Verify Emergency Medical and Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) compliance with referrals and transfers 4.
Maintains patient confidentiality 5.
Serves as a resource to staff in solving clinical problems.
Helps staff to efficiently utilize staffing resources in order to meet patient care requirements.
Provide support, guidance and feedback to staff.
6.
Responds as a member of the Code Blue and Rapid Response Team (RRT).
Aids in other emergency situations.
Acts as a resource in identifying and solving administrative and operational problems.
7.
Contacts department manager, directors, administrate personnel or administrator-on-call for assistance in problem solving in an appropriate and timely manner.
Reports significant incidents or problems to the proper leadership such as: o Major utility damage and or outages o Physician concerns o Unusual patient or family concerns/problems o Security problems o Fire, disaster, bomb threats or other matters of legal importance o Safety Issues o Written descriptions about staff performance or concerns 8.
Ensures adherence to policies and procedures.

Assist staff to provide a safe work environment for patient care.
Follows established safety, infection control procedures and helps in safe practices.
10.
Adhere to dress code with appearance that is neat and clean.
Wear hospital identification while on duty 11.
Always represent the organization in a positive and professional manner 12.
Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
13.
Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and legal information.

Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program.
Holds a current unencumbered RN licensure in the state of Idaho.
Current BLS, ACLS and PALS courses.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in acute care experience preferably in an ICU or ED.
Working knowledge of admission criteria.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Language/Communication: Must be able to take physician orders accurately over the phone and enter them into the EMR.
Must be able to accurately relay information between providers and other nursing staff.
Has the ability to communicate effectively and clearly with providers, administration, department managers, patients, family members, nursing staff, visitors and members from ancillary teams.
Mathematical Skills: Knowledge of basic nursing medication calculations and ability to educate nursing staff regarding medication calculations.
Equipment/Tegechnology: Ability to use EMR (Cerner) as well as a multi-line phone system and radio for EMS communication.
Mental Capabilities: Has the ability to apply critical thinking process.
Able to function in high stress situation and prioritize information as related to establishing good working relationships with those around them.
Able to facilitate communication and access into and out of the hospital.
Facilitates transports, transfers and incoming patient orders.
Must have good knowledge of appropriate guidelines and regulations related to patient care, EMTALA, HIPAA, Hospital Policies and Protocols.
Interpersonal: Able to work with all hospital departments and supportive services.
Works independently, exercise creativity, displays attention to details and represent/promotes IFCH culture.
Performance: Meets the standards in reference to professionalism and competency.
